The Ministry of Love by far is the most disturbing place that has ever existed in fiction. What is the most disturbing part about the Ministry of Love is there purpose of turning heterics of the Party into devoted members before killing them. There really is no sound logic in this action, not even when O’Brien explains the idea in a monologue to Winston does its logic become clear. Making a person ‘sane’ and hold love for Big Brother before killing them is probably the most dastardly punishment that has ever been conceived in literature. To know that this is the fate for Winston, a man that the reader of this novel can’t help but to root for, is highly demoralizing.
